expanding opportunity & improving lives

To Neighborhood Allies, achieving impact means the lives of residents are improving. It means that our partnerships are creating healthy neighborhoods of opportunity, and our collective resources are moving low-income Pittsburghers up the socio-economic ladder. It means a more just and inclusive society where all can participate and reach their full potential, and that we can progress toward equity for and with communities. Impact means we can successfully accelerate, scale, and sustain community development solutions that Pittsburgh’s neighborhoods deserve, desire, and need. To ensure that community ownership and economic opportunity are at the core of our work, our on-the-ground initiatives center around bringing the technical, human, and financial resources together to co-power residents to revitalize, co-design, and own their future.

Our work is deployed through a suite of investments and services that revitalize neighborhoods and foster economic mobility. Our work aims to drive transformative change and co-create solutions to long-term social problems.

Revitalizing Neighborhoods

Our approach to neighborhood revitalization is centered around co-creating resident-focused solutions that impact affordable housing, small businesses, and placemaking efforts. We believe genuine revitalization only occurs when both a geographic place and its people see positive change.

Fostering Economic Mobility

Our commitment to economic mobility and wealth-building programs is driven by an evolving landscape that demands a diverse skill set and financial knowledge. We play a pivotal role in providing the building blocks to mobility and wealth – skills and expertise leading to better employment; opportunities for asset development; access to higher education, investing, and retirement planning.

WEAVING RESOURCES AND BUILDING EQUITABLE COMMUNITIES

Organization wide, our work addresses complex problems through innovative programming, creative resource sharing, and true, trust-based collaboration. We hold equity at the core of all that we do and strive to create pathways of opportunity that lead to healthy neighborhoods for all.

Building Capacity

We strive to increase individual, organizational, and community capacity by building connections across our programs and with external partners. We aim to tackle problems from all angles by bringing together financial, human, social, and intellectual assets across our portfolio of programs.

Advancing Equity

Our commitment to equity is grounded in being a leading change agent of equitable growth for the Pittsburgh region, which starts both in our own organization and in the neighborhoods we serve. The highest ideals of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) are core to who we are and all that we do.
