Allegheny County Financial Empowerment Center (FEC)
FEC expands to Allegheny County, increasing impact and reaching more residents.
Since 2019, the FEC has helped 2,369 clients in 7,500 sessions achieve 3,400 measurable outcomes, including $2.7 million in savings built and $6.3 million in debt reduced!
We launched the Pittsburgh Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) in partnership with the City of Pittsburgh in 2019 with the goal of providing free, one-on-one financial counseling to Pittsburghers to help increase savings, reduce debt, and improve credit. Since then, Neighborhood Allies has led efforts to help the FEC grow, evolve, and expand to reach more residents with the right type of resources and support.
In 2023, we joined forces with the Allegheny County Department of Human Services to expand the Financial Empowerment Center to serve all of Allegheny County. We fully launched services in January 2024. Learn more at myfinancialpower.org.
This strategic collaboration and expansion provides the following:
Continued Impact for Existing Clients and Partners
The FEC continues to deliver essential services for existing clients and partners, ensuring an uninterrupted transition.
Extended Service Area
Breaking free from city boundaries, the service area now encompasses all residents of Allegheny County, allowing outreach and services to be provided equitably.
New Collaborations with Social Service Providers
The initiative fosters new partnerships with social service providers aligned with ACDHS, including CSBG grantees, family support centers, senior centers, and housing programs.
Increased Financial Resources
The expanded initiative creates avenues for raising greater financial resources from diverse sources, amplifying the program’s overall impact.
Strategic Integrations with Direct DHS Services
The FEC programmatic integrations can strategically align with direct DHS services, benefiting youth aging out of foster care, returning citizens, and individuals facing fines/fees.
